Dr. Sylvia Earle opens Trade Secret
Last night we had the international premiere of the film as the closing screening of the Climate Film Festival in New York. The film was opened by Dr. Sylvia Earle and played in two concurrent cinemas to over 300 people. Following the screening, I was joined on stage by Paul Nicklen, Cristina Mittermeier, Adam Cruise and Ole Liodden, with the discussion moderated by Costas Christ.
Sylvia opened her remarks by calling Trade Secret “A Life-Changing Film”.
The audience reaction was overwhelming – and it translated into the film picking up two awards at the festival’s reception and awards ceremony. Trade Secret received the overall Jury Prize, the Visionary Award, given to the film that demonstrated the boldest and most critical storytelling. But perhaps even more importantly, the film also received the Audience Award. Over 60 films were screened at the Climate Film Festival, and audience members voted after each screening. Receiving the Audience Award means so much to all of us because it shows the strong interest in, and relevance of, this film and its message.
